It took almost three centuries before the territory of Blainville officially became a city! In 1683, the vast Seigneurie des Mille-Îles (Lordship of the Thousand Islands) was ceded to Sidrac-Dugué de Boisbriand, but it was not until the second half of the 19th century that settlers start to occupy the parish of Sainte-Thérèse-de-Blainville.
