Interesting facts about Saint-Jerome
With over 80,000 inhabitants, Saint-Jerome is ranked 14th in most populated in the province of Quebec. Its population more than doubled following the municipal merges of January 1st, 2002, when the older towns Saint-Antoine, de Bellefeuille et de Lafontaine became boroughs.
The lion that decorates the City's coat of arms (as well as its more modern logo) evokes the saint patron Jerome. Legend says that this religious man from the 4th century domesticated a wildcat after pulling out a thorn from its paw.
