Taking care of your oven is essential, not only if you wish to extend its lifetime, but as well to avoiding frequent and costly repairs. By washing your oven more frequently, you could also quickly notice when some parts need replacement, thus allowing you to replace them as soon as possible in order to avoid more damage to the entire appliance. Here are a few tips to help you clean your oven in an efficient way.
Certain foods often contains acids (example : tomato sauce, vinegar, etc.). These stains could damage the finishing coat of your oven, if not cleaned immediately after. Before cleaning your cooktop, make sure the burners are turned off and cold. You can clean it with warm soapy water and a sponge. Clean the surface, then rinse and dry with a kitchen towel until completely dry. It is not recommended to use abrasive products or powder soap, which could damage the finishing coat of the oven as well.
Grates and plates : Take them out, then soak them in warm water mixed with a few drops of your dish detergent in your kitchen sink. Scrub with a sponge or a steel wool pad, rinse and then dry with a kitchen towel.
Interior: Wait until your oven is warm (not hot). Apply the cleaning agent of your choice on the inner walls and then scrub until clean. For stubborn dirt, apply the product until dirt is soaked and wait a few minutes before starting to scrub.
In general, the burners and the grates get dirty faster than the other parts of a gas oven. It is necessary that you clean all grease stains as soon as you see them to avoid dirt accumulation that could damage your appliance in the long run. To clean the burners, take off the cap, then clean it with warm water mixed with your dish detergent (do not soak it completely). Dry it and put it back in place, making sure that they are put back in the exact same position that they were before you took them out. You can wash the grates with soap-filled pads.
Oven with a self-cleaning function
The self-cleaning function elevates the oven’s temperature in order to carbonize food particles and leakages. Usually, this process will take between 2 and 4 hours. Before starting this function, don’t forget to take out the grills to avoid damage to the point of having to replace them. We strongly recommend that you do not use any cleaning products to scrub the inside of a self-cleaning oven, even if the cleaning products are meant for self cleaning ovens. Indeed, using them may damage the special coating that’s covering the inside of the oven. Allow it to cool down for at least 2 hours after the cleaning cycle. Open the door and, using a gentle damp cloth or sponge, wipe out the ash from the inside of the oven. To finish, clean the oven’s door, scrubbing the inside side of the door with a clean sponge and a gentle cleansing product. To finish, clean the inside of the oven door with a rag and kitchen cleaner.
